Hey there, and welcome back to The Subway Audit! Today we will cover a stylish casual laid back look spotted on the Subway on my way to work.
For the newbies here: From time to time, I’ll pick out a standout look I come across in the NYC subway to break down. My goal? To dish out some inspiring outfit inspo straight from the streets of the city that never sleeps! I’ll be chatting about style, mixing fabrics, layering, and all those cool colour combos that catches my eye. The subway is like a treasure trove of fashion, and I can’t wait to share these style trends with you!
I’ll do my best to find the exact clothes and accessories featured, but sometimes it’s like playing detective, especially with branded stuff. Don’t worry though, when and item is too expensive, I’ll find the closest matches online and throw in some budget-friendly options. Let’s dive into our look!
And here we are, mid April and Spring is blooming! This week I spotted this beautiful blond lady sitting in the subway. What stood out on her look was her cool wool oversized plaid shirt in sage green with undertones of mustard. The color palette of the look matched her hair color and skin complexion very well and the way she let the shirt be the staple of her outfit was a smart decision.

To match with a visually busy plaid shirt, she used bottom layers in black and a light wash straight cut jeans. She was wearing ankle boots in black leather and this cute ribbed cream socks that were showing off. To finish the look she chose a nice tote from Fréja New York – which honestly have been a brand that I’ve seen New Yorkers rocking in the past few months. (side note: do blog post on Fréja for you 😉
