The Subway Audit: Sophisticated Edgy

Come with me for another “The Subway Audit” series!

Hey there, and welcome back to The Subway Audit! Today we will cover a truly original look from a style icon I found on my way to work. Yes, only in NYC this happens. The girl looked like she came out of “Devil Wears Prada” movie.

For the newbies here: Each week, I’ll pick out a standout look to break down. My goal? To dish out some inspiring outfit inspo straight from the streets of the city that never sleeps! I’ll be chatting about style, mixing fabrics, layering, and all those cool colour combos that catches my eye. The subway is like a treasure trove of fashion, and I can’t wait to share these style trends with you!

I’ll do my best to find the exact clothes and accessories featured, but sometimes it’s like playing detective, especially with branded stuff. Don’t worry though, I’ll find the closest matches online and throw in some budget-friendly options too. Let’s dive into our first look!

And here we are in our forth week of timeless elegance and style in the Subways of NYC! Today’s look is EPIC. I say that because I would never thought about combining these styles all together, and when I saw this lady rocking it in the way to work, I knew I had to do us all a favour and document it. First of all – the eggplant coloured vinyl trench coat: an iconic staple to the look. Perfect for the transition between Winter and Spring and honestly it is a colour that goes well with a wide range of combinations.

I personally loved the mix of the edgy trench coat with the light, baby blue slingback Prada shoes and how the two matched perfectly with the argyle sweater vest colour tones. What balances the look was the base she chose – making use of capsule wardrobe pieces, such as the grey pants and the white shirt, which go well with anything. And can we mention the mix of materials in this look? The cold touch of the PVC (Plastic Polyvinyl Chloride) material, mixed with the rustic/dry touch of jeans, and topped with the warm touch of the sweater vest and the cotton touch of the shirt. What an interesting sensorial experience, right? So cool!

This mix creates a captivating combination, in which the colors create a harmonious yet eye-catching look, perfect for both daytime outings and evening events, adding a touch of romance and elegance. Perfect look for Spring time!

Now let’s have fun with the different outfit alternatives we found.
