Exploring the Timeless Elegance of Trudon Candles: Get Immersed In history and evocative scents This Spring

Today I had the pleasure of discovering the world of Trudon candles at their Soho store, in New York City. I had a Wellness Day at work and thought to myself: what best way to spend the day in exploring candle, and perfumeries in Soho? Well, that’s what I did. As I got out of the Subway and walked down Spring Street, an unique dark blue front called my attention. As I saw candles from the window I thought to myself: “Mariá, you NEED to go there.” Result: best decision I made today!

I was welcomed by Jared, a welcoming and sweet candle connoisseur that amazed me with his knowledge on candle making, the intricate details on the history behind the brand, and the background of each specific candle I sniffed (yes, I smelled all of them). It was a true immersive experience into the world of Trudon.

For those new to the brand, Trudon is a candle manufacture established in 1643. The brand is ingrained in history and luxury, and brings timeless elegance and unparalleled craftsmanship. The uniqueness of this candles come from the use of traditional techniques, with a commitment to quality that has endured for centuries. Trudon was the provider of candles for French cathedrals and nobility. For instance, the founders supplied all the candles of Versailles on a daily basis, serving the Sun King, Louis XIV, during his reign.

Can you see the magnitude of this? I was so excited to be there and listen to every detail. Being a French History lover, I was in awe to learn with Jared all the details behind each candle and what events and people inspired the scents. Once in the store, you sense that every aspect of a Trudon candle is designed to envelop the senses and elevate the atmosphere. They are a symbol of luxury and refinement, inviting you to indulge in the art of fine living.

TUILERIES: Floral & fruity chypre

Being a floral and citrus scents lover, this candle stood out to me from their vast candle selection. It feels like you are walking in Versailles’ gardens, about to meet for a tea with Marie Antoinette. This line is prefect for Spring time. The fragrance is an homage to the rose, the Queen’s favourite flower. The flowery scent is smooth and brings in freshness, at the same time as it romanticises the experience. (feeling like a Queen while experiencing it)

CYRNOS: Citrus, fruity & woody

When Jared presented me with this room spray I was immediately taken over by it. It felt like I was transported to Côte d’Azur in Southern France. I saw myself in a beautiful Belle Époque-styled room, where the large open windows brought in the most delicious breeze from the outside citrus garden. This piece of art is inspired by Empress Eugénie’s sunny Cyrnos villa, constructed in 1894.

The Empress created a semi-desert, mineral, contrasted and fragrant garden, where Queens, poets and artists met in the shade of fig trees and parasol pines. Talk about a scent to have when you have people over. Indulge yourself and your guests in the beauty and freshness of Cyrnos, and bring the Southern France to your home.

WAX BUSTS: Busts of characters or symbols of the French History

When you get in Trudon’s store in Soho, New York, one of the decor pieces that is a statement of antique French aesthetic are these beautifully sculpted wax busts from famous characters in History such as Napoleon, Louis XIV, and Marie-Antoinette just to name a few. It looks like you are getting into a museum. Adding to that, the brand actually collaborated with Réunion des Musées Nationaux (the French National Museum Council) to have these made. As Jared and I agreed, these are too precious to be burned lol BUT what a statement piece to have at home if you want to bring luxurious and royalty aesthetic to your home.

ELAE EAU DE PARFUM: Neroli, Ylang Ylang and Sandalwood

And now, ladies and gentlemen: HER, Elae. One of my favourite scent profiles in a perfume includes the refreshing essence of Neroli, coupled with its delightful floral and fruity undertones.

Top Notes: Moroccan Neroli, Apple • Middle Notes: Egyptian Jasmine, Ylang-Ylang • Base Notes: Laotian Benzoin, Australian Sandalwood

The artistry behind this fragrance elevates the experience of Neroli to new heights. Upon trying it, I anticipated enjoyment, but the harmonious blend of notes transported me to a world where I carried a stunning bouquet of flowers with me troughout the rest of my day in Soho. The scent lingered for a long time on my skin, defying the typical longevity of citrus-based perfumes and leaving a lasting impression.

In wrapping up this incredible journey, I must express my sincere gratitude for the unforgettable experience at the Trudon store. My time there was nothing short of magical. A special thanks to Jared for providing a museum-like tour that truly enhanced the visit. Trudon’s commitment to excellence is evident in the professionalism and warmth of its staff, and it undeniably elevated the entire experience. Immersed in the rich history and evocative scents, I felt transported to bygone eras, enveloped in the romance of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Truly, Trudon has curated an experience that transcends time.
